Corrupted NBA boxscore data
Posted by Casey Trauer on 31 December 2014 05:28 PM

The Sports Network inadvertently published old NBA boxscores around 2:47 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31. These boxscores contained an event ID and season metadata that made it seem as though they were 2014 season boxscores.

Here are the files:

http://feed.xmlteam.com/sportsml/files/2014/12/31/basketball/l.nba.com/event-summary/xt.R56554-box.xml

http://feed.xmlteam.com/sportsml/files/2014/12/31/basketball/l.nba.com/event-summary/xt.R56555-box.xml

Here are the bogus event keys:

l.nba.com-2014-e.4781

l.nba.com-2014-e.4591

If you are a user of SportsDB, here is a query that will remove the bad data from your database:

We apologize for the error. We have contacted the publisher about the issue, which appears to be due to operator error.

New event ID for postponed BAL/KC MLB playoff game
Posted by Casey Trauer on 14 October 2014 01:42 PM

Monday night's Game 3 of the MLB American League Championship Series between Baltimore and Kansas City was postponed because of rain. The Sports Network has issued a new event key for Tuesday's game. The original event keys for Games 4 and 5 will remain but will have different start dates to match the new schedule.

The new event key is l.mlb.com-2014-e.44572. The postponed event key is l.mlb.com-2014-e.44550.

For SportsDB users, this means that the database will have keys for more than seven games in this series. You may use the original event key to display a postponed date in the schedule. Or you may ignore postponed event rows by filtering them out. Or you may choose to delete the key altogether. Here is a sample query:

DELETE FROM periods WHERE periods.participant_event_id IN (SELECT participants_events.id FROM participants_events JOIN events ON participants_events.event_id = events.id WHERE event_key LIKE 'l.mlb.com-2014-e.44550');
DELETE FROM participants_events WHERE participants_events.event_id IN (SELECT events.id FROM events WHERE event_key LIKE 'l.mlb.com-2014-e.44550');
DELETE FROM affiliations_events WHERE affiliations_events.event_id IN (SELECT events.id FROM events WHERE event_key LIKE 'l.mlb.com-2014-e.44550');
DELETE FROM events_sub_seasons WHERE events_sub_seasons.event_id IN (SELECT events.id FROM events WHERE event_key LIKE 'l.mlb.com-2014-e.44550');
DELETE FROM document_fixtures_events WHERE document_fixtures_events.event_id IN (SELECT events.id FROM events WHERE event_key LIKE 'l.mlb.com-2014-e.44550');
DELETE FROM events_documents WHERE events_documents.event_id IN (SELECT events.id FROM events WHERE event_key LIKE 'l.mlb.com-2014-e.44550');
DELETE FROM events_sub_seasons WHERE events_sub_seasons.event_id IN (SELECT events.id FROM events WHERE event_key LIKE 'l.mlb.com-2014-e.44550');
DELETE FROM events_sub_seasons WHERE events_sub_seasons.event_id IN (SELECT events.id FROM events WHERE event_key LIKE 'l.mlb.com-2014-e.44550');
DELETE FROM person_event_metadata WHERE person_event_metadata.event_idIN (SELECT events.id FROM events WHERE event_key LIKE 'l.mlb.com-2014-e.44550');
DELETE FROM events WHERE event_key LIKE 'l.mlb.com-2014-e.44550';

Changes to all-star roster files and new NFL keys
Posted by Casey Trauer on 17 January 2014 05:49 PM

XML Team will be sending new team keys for this year's NFL Pro Bowl game, as well as new fixture keys for every all-star roster across sports. These changes affect customers of The Sports Network feed.

The first change reflects the new NFL Pro Bowl format, where Jerry Rice and Deion Sanders will be choosing the teams. The key for Team Rice will be l.nfl.com-t.X91. The key for Team Sanders will be l.nfl.com-t.X92. There will be no update to league directory files.

The Sports Network will be sending a full play-by-play feed for this year's Pro Bowl, for those customers subscribed to the NFL progressive feed.

The second change concerns the fixture-key for all-star rosters, which is being changed from "roster" to "roster-all-star". This change reflects the fact that for many clients, these rosters need to be processed differently, so that, for example, players are not permanantly re-assigned from their primary team to the all-star team.

If you are a FeedFetcherDeluxe client and wish to prevent processing of this file to preserve the player's primary team assignment, take the following steps:

1) Go to {ff}/conf/content-rules/active-fixtures-docs.dat
2) Above the line that reads *:*, add these lines:
sport/15003000:roster-all-star:exclude
sport/15007000:roster-all-star:exclude
sport/15008000:roster-all-star:exclude
sport/15031000:roster-all-star:exclude

New scoring breakdowns in NFL boxscores and season-stats files
Posted by Casey Trauer on 29 October 2013 08:27 PM

The Sports Network has added new scoring breakdowns that will allow you to distinguish touchdowns scored by special teams play. This affects team totals only, where the data breaks out touchdowns by rushing, passing, defense, and (now) special teams. The changes are now live for event-stats (boxscore) files and season-stats files.

In the XML, you can find the values under: team-stats/stats-american-football-scoring/@touchdowns-special-teams.

In the SportsDB database, the value will appear in the american_football_scoring_stats.touchdowns-special-teams column.

Please let us know if you have any questions about this new stat by emailing support@xmlteam.com.
